Product Marketing Manager

PAR is recruiting for the position of Product Marketing Manager (PMM), Greater China to join its International team within the Restaurant & Retail Systems business unit.


Job Summary:

The PMM is responsible for developing the Marketing Plan for the Greater China region and providing input into the annual Marketing budget.  Once approved, the PMM ensures the on-time implementation of the plan and the adherence to the budget. He/she will work in close tandem with the International Marketing Manager to develop locally tailored, local language, demand generation campaigns to drive brand awareness and develop new restaurant/retail customers for PAR’s hardware, software and service solutions portfolio.

A key aspect of this position is the requirement to consistently author new content in Simplified Chinese as well as to translate, adapt and enhance content provided by the PAR business from US English into Simplified Chinese.

The PMM will work with a broad team of professionals in Product Management and Marketing to develop value-based messaging and positioning to promote PAR products based on the Company’s go-to-market strategy, and provides insight to the team to influence the roadmap based on market analysis and customer, partner and competitive feedback.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Executes go-to-market strategies and plans to bring current or new PAR solutions to market. Includes defining target segments, product positioning, messaging, sales tools, pricing, and managing the schedule for a successful product launch.
  • Contributes to the product roadmap and strategy with Product Management, Marketing, and Global Sales teams. 
  • Initiates programs for selling products to the market; manages the product in the market, maximizes profit and sales throughout the product life cycle, and monitors the performance of the product to ensure that the product remains competitive.
  • Work with International Marketing Manager to develop campaigns for the success of PAR products with current and new customers and partners globally.
  • Creates new sales tools and return-on-investment (ROI) and total-cost-of-ownership (TCO) calculators to clearly communicate the value of PAR products to customers and partners.
  • Works closely with Product Management, Marketing and Sales to successfully launch new products. Defines the value proposition, messaging, buyer & user personas and marketing plans to successfully launch new products. Maintains product launch calendars for the management team and contribute to improvements in the product launch model.
  • Researches, analyzes and understands industry, market, and customer trends and their potential impact on PAR products. Develops pro-active strategies to differentiate PAR product solutions from its competitors.
  • Defines market segment opportunities with current and future products and develops Market Requirements Documents for new products.  Analyzes competitive offerings and develops messaging and tools highlighting our differentiators and value proposition.
  • Participates in thought leadership initiatives to drive leadership of PAR in the market including developing white papers and videos and speaking engagements.
  • Other Marketing tasks as assigned by Management. Examples include:
    • Mailers, Press Releases, Social Media, Videos, Quotes
    • Public Relations duties
    • Trade Show / Seminar / Partner Conference Assistance
    • Advertising
    • Collateral
    • Campaign Metrics
    • Sales Tools
    • Participation in customer/partner meetings
    • Participation in advisory boards
  • Additional duties as required.

Performance Tracking

  • Annual performance will be reviewed via PAR’s Trakstar performance appraisal system.
  • Quarterly performance will be reviewed via the 9 Block process.
  • Ongoing performance will be enhanced by the P’Game tool.
  • Utilization of company standard tools such as Optima CRM (Microsoft Dynamic).
  • Consistent execution of Customer-Centric Selling (CCS) and Pragmatic Marketing principles.
  • Evidence of Continued Personal Development.


  • 3 - 5+ years of technology product marketing experience with at least 2 years of experience in a field facing role.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or Marketing, MBA or Master’s degree preferred.
  • Experience partnering with sales, marketing and product management teams.
  • Experience in launching new products in the market.
  • Experience presenting to customers and/or the press.
  • Working knowledge and/or experience with hardware and service solutions for business customers. Understanding of enterprise software a plus.


  • Position requires spoken fluency in both English and Mandarin.
  • Position requires written fluency in both English and Simplified Chinese.
  • Position requires excellent written and oral communication skills including public speaking and press/media handling as well as creative writing skills.
  • Regularly interacts verbally and in writing with managers, sales professionals, and upper management to explain strategies and plans.
  • Requires ability to translate technical specifications into non-technical presentations for the purpose of communicating the value of the product.
  • Often meets with executives and managers of existing and prospective customers. Must be able to quickly adapt messaging to a specific audience.
