Software Engineer

PAR is seeking a Software Engineer to join the BRINK POS development team. This position will be based in the PAR office in Markham, ON. BRINK POS is a next generation cloud-based Point-of-Sale system for the restaurant industry that is rapidly becoming a market leader. As a robust, n-tier, multi-platform system, Brink POS offers developers the rare opportunity to work with a wide variety of development technologies, including Web, Mobile, and Windows Client development, as well as robust server and database development, plus the opportunity to integrate with hardware and third party systems, as well as contribute to our own API.

The BRINK development team is a cohesive group of high performers passionate about building modern, mission critical systems that improve restaurant operations. As a member of this team, the Software Engineer will contribute to shaping the product and the development team itself.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Analyze, design and develop system enhancements
  • Propose architecture and design optimizations
  • Work with the development and testing teams to ensure consistent, high quality delivery
  • Work as an individual, as well as within a team structure to deliver complex systems
  • Analyze the performance and scalability impact of various in-place and proposed designs
  • Perform peer design and code reviews and provide feedback on areas that need improvement
  • Evaluate emerging best practices and technologies, and formulate a plan for incorporating those that would be beneficial into our products

 

QUALIFICIATIONS

  • Be passionate about building next-generation technologies, enjoy small, fast-paced environments and love to code
  • Bachelors in Computer Science/Engineering or a related field
  • Minimum 2 years of software development experience
  • C# and .NET experience
  • Good debugging skills
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server and T-SQL programming
  • Experience with WCF and WPF a plus
  • Experience with ASP.NET MVC, Silverlight, HTML5 and jQuery a plus
  • Proactive communication style, ability to question, clarify and document
  • Strong written, oral and visual communication skills
  • Ability to manage/prioritize multiple tasks and projects to meet deadlines
