Senior Director, POS Software Development

The Vice President, Software Development is responsible for all aspects of software development practices and processes and will lead highly talented and versatile product development teams in a multi-site environment.  This position is a key member of the management team and will work closely with PAR executive management, customers, product management, project management, and other internal functions to deliver highly reliable software products and services on time and within budget.

  • Lead multi-location internal and external development teams to develop Client-Server, SaaS and mobile applications in a fast paced and customer centric environment
  • Support and scale existing applications that continue to grow in complexity as well as usage volume
  • Modify existing designs to improve the quality, reliability, scalability and 3rd party module integration capabilities across heterogeneous platforms
  • Implement foundational architecture practices, processes and tools
  • Maintain and improve a Lean, Agile development process with appropriate code quality standards and performance metrics to deliver high levels of schedule predictability and customer satisfaction upon release
  • Implement strategies and tactics to reduce overall development cycle time year over year
  • Identify, evaluate, recommend and implement appropriate technology platforms and architectures in alignment with product strategy and overall technology trends
  • Ensure the software development team’s skills and capabilities are aligned to product direction and roadmaps in both the short and long term through internal development and external recruitment of top talent
  • Align software releases with hardware roadmap, look for opportunities to leverage hardware platform to create competitive distinction
  • Consciously design functionality to reduce support costs across all platforms



  • BS, Computer Science or related technical degree.  MS, Computer Science highly desired
  • 15 years of software development experience with demonstrated track record of increasing levels of personal responsibility for architecture decisions and the quality, schedule and budget performance of software development teams
  • 5 years of senior level responsibility for architecture decisions and the quality, schedule and budget performance a software development organization
  • Demonstrated skill analyzing business requirements and translating to appropriate technology platforms and architectures and developing written or “functional” technical specifications/requirements
  • Proven ability to drive the entire software development process from concept, architecture, detailed design, development, QA and customer acceptance with an iterative and test driven methodology
  • Demonstrated successful experience in managing outside partners as part of the overall software development organization
  • Decision responsibility for architectural designs and all related technical decisions in support of restaurant software and software for embedded devices to support the food industry.   This includes:
    • Extensive experience and leadership in design and the developing high performance, scalable and fault-tolerant enterprise SaaS/Cloud applications
    • Extensive product development experience with rich client side applications as well as web-based applications that includes mobile application development (smart phones, tablets)
  • Development experience with .net, C#, C++, SDLC, TCPIP, SQL Server, HTML, Javascript, TFS, Agile, Design Patterns, Web Development, WCF, REST, XML
  • Also: SQL Server, Non-Relational Database Theory/Design, Jira, Agile,
  • Some experience with Usability, User Experience, and User Interface Design
  • Excellent interpersonal and cross-functional communication/collaboration skills. Ability to effectively communicate ideas to others and invite/consider input from others
  • Accessible and approachable, respecting intellectual integrity and valuing individuality
  • Demonstrates personal integrity by doing the right thing in the face of adversity or personal difficulty
  • Team oriented approach as demonstrated by the ability to build strong and open working relationships across the organization characterized by mutual respect between superiors, peers and subordinates.  Skilled at gaining team consensus
